Moonray Governance
Decentralized governance
The $MNRY token provides the ability to propose and carry out change and provide direction in a decentralized manner for the benefit of the Moonray ecosystem, as governed by the Moonray DAO.
The Moonray governance structure includes two key organization:
Moonray DAO
Key governance power is given to the Moonray DAO, the collective of all holders of the $MNRY token. Members of the DAO are allowed to submit proposals for review by the Execution Committee (see below) for a vote, and the Moonray DAO as a community votes on the proposals put forward by the Execution Committee.
Moonray DAO Execution Committee
The Moonray DAO Execution Committee (MDEC) is in charge of reviewing proposals submitted by DAO members, forwarding those proposals for voting by the Moonray DAO, and ensuring the implemetation any proposals that are voted through.
This is a critically necessary role to ensure that no vote adversely impacts the integrity of the Moonray ecosystem.
The MDEC is bound by the Moonray DAO Charter to operate in the best interests of the Moonray ecosystem and the Moonray DAO.
For a formal articulation of the MDEC’s role within the Moonray DAO’s governance process, refer to the Moonray DAO Charter.
The evolution of Moonray governance
The initial governance launch provides the community with the tools it needs: a means of decentralized governance, along with appropriate safeguards to ensure that the Moonray ecosystem remains functional. As for how this system will change moving forward, many open questions remain:
Can the governance process be further decentralized?
How and when can the MDEC’s power be further minimized, or eliminated entirely?
Progressive decentralization is a core tenet of the Moonray DAO. These questions don’t have simple answers and will continue to be the topic of lively discussion within the community as the Moonray ecosystem continues to evolve. But crucially, the Moonray governance system controls all aspects of the Moonray ecosystem, including the governance process itself.
